Teaching Your Elders
Blog Post Credit: McDowell
I have chosen McDowell's post about 'Teaching Your Elders' and used Padlet to write about 'What I Want to Teach My Elders'.
What do you want to teach your elders? Please comment below.
My Ideal SchoolImage created by me using MS Paint My current school is already a great school. But what do I want my ideal school to be? I want my ideal school to be almost like my own school right now.
First of all, I would like my school to have many sections. In the picture above, I have made five sections not including the swimming pool, parking and green area. This makes me feel that I am free and I can go anywhere I want. I thought of this because you cannot just squeeze everything in one building. Only that the center building has only one floor. As you may see, there is one class for every grade, this is because everybody learns together in one class, just to make things simple. Also, there will be different groups. They will switch classes. Maybe the first group of grade 9 goes to the art and culture building while the other group stays in the classroom. I didn’t add the details to other buildings because they are quite simple the way you can imagine them. I made the library big because I think that the students must explore. Students may even spend more time outside than in their classroom. Next, this school has many facilities. Children have different talents. The clubs and buildings help children explore more on their talents. The theater is made quite big because it allows students to speak up and show their ideas. Also, the swimming pool is almost as big as the gym, in fact bigger than the gym. This is because there are lots of sections. One for synchronized swimming, another for swimming practice, then one for diving, and lots more. This is the same with every other building. This school is actually eco-friendly. Only bicycles are allowed to go around the building. The cars and motorcycles should be parked in the car park. The park actually has green houses. The green houses are there for students to do experiments and also for them to go when they feel stressed. I think plants help make peace and happiness. This school is the school that helps us open our minds up, and create love. It will also help me in my career, and develop my talent. What I Want to Do Once I Leave School So, what do I want to do once I leave school? There are a lot of things but I will only mention some. Some of the people that inspire me are authors, scientists, and some are with me every day.
First of all, I want to study biochemistry in the university. I really like biology and I also like to explore chemistry. The person that inspires me is Ben Goldacre, a British physician, academic and science writer. He writes about how science really matters. He also mentions experiments about matter and the human body in one of his books called ‘Bad Science’. I read it every night and find out that we cannot just depend on teachers or the internet about facts, but we have to find it out ourselves. Another field is pharmacy. I like to be a pharmacist because whenever I go to the hospital, I always see the pharmacists packing medicines and I notice that they are a little cheerful. But once again, that is not the only thing I want to be. I also want to be a doctor. Whenever I talk about biology to senior grades or to my parents, they mostly talk about cutting frogs and doing stuff with living things. Most people think that it is disgusting but I think that it is cool and exciting. Another thing I want to be is a comic author. My inspiration is Raina Telgemeier, an American cartoonist. In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that my interest is drawing comics. Right now, I am drawing a comic story called ‘Frank the Cat’. There are many comic books that not only give you happiness, but give knowledge as well. But this work is not something I want to do as a fixed job, I want to do it as a part time job. The reason behind this is because I won’t get so much profit. Also, it will be quite boring. The last thing I want to be is a news reporter or writer. Many teachers have said that my background in writing is really good. And also I like reporting things to my mother. Not reporting as in telling my mother that this kid made me cry or so, but reporting on what I learn at school and what I discover when I do some fun fact researching. It is like doing two things together. Researching and telling. Finally, I want to make a lifelong project such as starting a business or inventing something. I always feel excited when our teacher says that we are going to start a project. It makes me feel that I am about to start my own work. This is actually related to the last challenge about attribution and licenses. It makes me feel that I just made a masterpiece. An Imaginary Tour Guide to Red Rock Lakes in Montana Image Credit: photosforclass Welcome to the Red Rock Lakes here in Montana.
Here, you can find so many species of birds including a trumpet swan. If you look around carefully here, you may find a very talented swan named Louis who can play the trumpet, read, and also write with a chalk and a blackboard. This place contains endangered species also, so please be reminded not to go bird hunting and do not annoy the birds. Only by just looking at this place already makes you feel special. It makes you feel like you’re a bird, actually living in that place. It will make you imagine how great it is to live here forever just like all the birds. Now on promotion starting from 83 dollars only! This is a two week tour which is quite long so you will have more time to enjoy all the lovely natural things here! The Story of 2017-2018 Grade 6 Class Representative This whole story started from grade five. I had completed my two years in student council as a reporter and a vice president.
Then came the school holidays and that was when I started listing down all the things I can help the school do as a president. I thought of how Theresa May became the prime minister of United Kingdom in July 2016. She became one of my inspirations to be a president. Student Council has given me so much. I made friends and learned how to be a good leader. That is another reason why I decided to join Student Council again. August the eighth came which is when the school opened. I knew that the Student Council election will not come long after. And that was very true; one week after the school opened, the Student Council was free for signing up. So many people signed up including me. I was very proud to be one of the candidates. Finally came the pre-election, at that time, my heart was pumping so fast. A few moments later, the election ended. The pre-election was very fast. It was actually like playing in a swimming pool that suddenly turns into a swift stream, then it turns back into a serene pool. One week later, the pre-election results were on the board. I couldn’t understand why I succeeded. It was a happy but awkward moment. I think that there must have been more people voting. Another concern I wished to know was that why are there only two people instead of three? In the end I came to know that the third person was a tie between two people. I thought at that time that even though I am president or not, I will still be in the Student Council to work for everybody. Here is where the most exciting part started. I started writing my speech and making my poster; every part of the poster represented something. For example, the box represented voting for me and the logo of AITIS represented my love and care for the school. The final election came. This time it was like a garden suddenly becoming the Himalaya Mountains, then it turned into deep Pacific Ocean, then again into a peaceful garden; the election ended in no time. Without knowing, the results were in Mrs. Hasmina’s room and this was only for the student council, I was grade 6 class representative. According to my dreams and inspirations from above, I am still able to serve the school and be in the Student Council. This story teaches me that whether I win or lose in anything, I should look at the positive side of what I’ve got. It is a good opportunity being a class representative after all. This year, I will do all my best and focus on my next story. What Not to Put in Your Carry On Bag Liquids over 100 ml
This is to prevent spilling. You can bring liquids under 100 ml, but you have to put your liquids in a small zip lock bag. According to my experience, I recommend not to bring any liquids at all, if you will, put in the bag that you will load up. Sharp objects These things, not at all because they can hurt people both accidentally and purposely. Weapons This is the same as sharp objects. Flammable Objects Such things are lighters and matches. You cannot load it either. The reason is obvious because you might start a fire. Agricultural products You can bring it but you will have to eat it in the airplane, because your food might have some sort of bacteria which can spread to the other country. Drugs Drugs are not allowed because you might sell it in another country. You can even be arrested bringing these things to other countries. If you do, you have to fill in a form or you have to pass immigration. For more information, please check the link down below: https://travel-made-simple.com/what-not-to-pack-in-your-carry-on-bag/
